Bill overview
This bill changes the rules for contractors working on residential solar panel systems in Nevada. Currently, contractors must obtain performance and payment bonds under certain circumstances. This bill requires *all* solar panel contractors to obtain bonds totaling at least 100% of the contract amount, issued by a surety listed by the U.S. Treasury. A limited exception exists for contractors whose licenses were issued before July 1, 2025, but they must still meet certain violation or contract voidance criteria to be subject to the new bond requirements. The bill also clarifies the definition of ‘work concerning a residential photovoltaic system used to produce electricity.’
