Bill overview
This bill modifies how county highway commissioners can handle road projects. Currently, if a project costing $100,000 or more doesn't receive bids after two attempts, the county can use its own employees or day labor. This bill increases the maximum project cost for which a hearing can be held to determine if county resources can be used to $547,570, adjusting this amount annually based on a construction cost index. It also clarifies the process for holding these hearings in smaller counties.
