Bill overview
This bill changes how Nevada juvenile courts handle cases involving young offenders. Currently, the court needed approval from the district attorney and a voluntary admission from the child to dismiss a case and refer them to informal supervision. This new law removes those requirements, allowing dismissal and informal supervision if all parties agree or the court deems it appropriate, unless the petition alleges a serious felony involving violence. It also clarifies that the court cannot use informal supervision for cases involving certain violent felonies.
