Bill overview
This bill revises Nevada’s parole system by creating a ‘second look’ review process for certain prisoners. It allows the State Board of Parole Commissioners to grant a second review to individuals convicted of category A or B felonies who have served at least 10 years of their minimum sentence, haven’t been sentenced to death, don’t pose a significant risk to public safety, and meet other criteria. Additionally, the bill expands parole eligibility for those convicted of crimes committed when they were under 25 years old, rather than 18, and makes adjustments to existing parole guidelines for those convicted of offenses resulting in the death of a victim. It also establishes procedures for initiating and conducting these reviews and outlines supervision requirements for released individuals.
