Bill overview
Assembly Bill 136 requires businesses that sell access to live animals to post a sign informing the public how to report animal cruelty. The sign must include the contact information for the local animal control authority. Businesses that fail to post the sign will face an administrative penalty of $100 per day. Accredited members of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums are exempt from this requirement.
