Bill overview
This bill requires Nevada’s Department of Corrections to provide incarcerated individuals with information and assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Programming staff must offer this support, including holding designated FAFSA events, and annually report on the program’s implementation and outcomes to the Joint Interim Standing Committee on the Judiciary. The law also prohibits using an individual’s FAFSA application status for disciplinary or incentive purposes and establishes a framework for similar programs already in place as of July 1, 2025.
