Bill overview
This bill requires automatic voter registration to be available when applying for certain licenses and permits, such as hunting, fishing, and driver’s licenses. It expands this requirement to include beaver trapping permits, wild turkey permits, deer permits, firearms purchaser identification cards, and permits to carry handguns. Agencies and offices that currently provide these licenses must establish a process to automatically register eligible applicants to vote, offering them the option to decline registration. The bill amends existing laws to align with the NJMVC’s automatic voter registration procedures.
