Overview
This bill removes a restriction on police presence at ballot drop boxes and polling places in New Jersey. Currently, law prohibited police officers from being within 100 feet of these locations during elections. This legislation allows police officers to be present to maintain order and security, subject to existing laws regarding assisting voters and responding to emergencies. The bill also modifies existing provisions related to notifying relevant authorities about police dispatch to polling locations.
