Bill overview
This bill requires New Jersey school districts to improve their emergency communication systems to enhance school security. Specifically, it mandates that school districts provide two-way radios to security personnel, develop procedures for notifying parents and others of emergencies through multiple channels, and regularly test their communication systems. The Commissioner of Education will also create strategies to encourage districts to update safety plans, ensure staff communication capabilities, and explore the use of new technologies like camera feeds and panic buttons.
