Bill overview
This bill authorizes the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to create and issue ‘Domestic Violence Awareness’ license plates. Vehicle owners can apply for these plates, which will display a purple ribbon and the phrase ‘Domestic Violence Awareness.’ The application fee is $50, with an annual renewal fee of $10. Proceeds from the license plate fees will be deposited into a dedicated fund to support organizations and agencies assisting victims of domestic violence. The commission will need to meet certain requirements, including receiving sufficient applications and funding, before the plates can be issued.
