Bill overview
This bill provides tuition-free credits to retired law enforcement officers and firefighters, as well as their spouses and dependents, to attend courses at public or proprietary higher education institutions. Eligible retired officers must have retired due to a service-related disability and meet certain enrollment requirements. Additionally, the bill extends tuition-free credits to the dependent child or spouse of a law enforcement officer or firefighter who died in the line of duty, subject to specific criteria including residency and academic standing. The bill takes effect immediately and applies to the first full academic year following its enactment.
