Bill overview
This bill requires certain animals used in testing, including cats, dogs, and ferrets, to be offered for adoption after the testing or research is completed. It establishes procedures for assessing animal suitability and disposition, and mandates that companies and institutions involved in animal testing contact animal rescue organizations to facilitate adoption. The bill also creates penalties for noncompliance and requires the Department of Health to maintain a registry of animal rescue organizations.
