Bill overview
This bill, the ‘Immigration Enforcement Support Act,’ would allow New Jersey law enforcement agencies to detain and transfer individuals present in the state illegally to federal immigration authorities, irrespective of the charges they face. It also proposes to provide financial compensation – $7,000 per deportation – to state law enforcement agencies directly involved in the deportation process. The Attorney General will establish guidelines for determining eligibility and allocating funds for these payments.
