Overview
This bill requires courts to order restitution to the child of a parent or guardian who was killed by a drunk driver. It expands the existing restitution framework to specifically address the financial loss experienced by the child until they are 18 or 21, depending on their disability. The bill also allows for forfeiture of the vehicle used in the offense under certain circumstances and clarifies the circumstances under which a plea of guilty can be taken without being considered ‘evidential’ in a subsequent civil case.
