This bill requires physicians and certain hospital employees, such as those in emergency departments, to complete training on effective communication and treatment strategies for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The State Board of Medical Examiners will mandate continuing medical education credits on this topic for licensed physicians. Additionally, the Department of Human Services will establish a training unit to develop and administer a specialized training program for hospital emergency department staff.
