Bill overview
This bill allows individuals who previously passed a police officer or firefighter civil service exam but were unable to complete the requirements due to military service (specifically, active duty in the National Guard or a reserve component) to have their name placed on a subsequent eligible list. The bill applies to service members who were on active duty for at least 30 days during Operation Enduring Freedom (September 11, 2001 – December 28, 2014) or Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (January 1, 2015 – the date of termination). It also clarifies that those who met the maximum age requirement at the time of the initial exam will be considered to have met that requirement when their name is placed on the subsequent list.
