Overview
This bill requires Internet service providers (ISPs) in New Jersey to keep a subscriber’s personally identifiable information confidential unless the subscriber provides written authorization for disclosure. ISPs must notify subscribers of these requirements and cannot refuse service for not authorizing disclosures. The bill excludes disclosures related to the ISP’s ordinary business operations or investigations under the New Jersey Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act.
