Overview
This bill allows local government units, such as counties and municipalities, to establish or operate a length of service award program for volunteer members of emergency service organizations. Currently, a volunteer could only receive one such award, even if they served multiple organizations. This bill would allow a local unit to provide a service award for each emergency service organization a volunteer serves, up to a maximum annual contribution. The program must be presented to the public for voter ratification before taking effect, and include details about the program, budget, and contribution amounts.
