Overview
This bill allows someone who buys a car privately from an individual (not a dealer) to drive it in New Jersey for three days without needing to register it permanently or transfer the title. To do this, the buyer must apply to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission through their website, providing details about the car and insurance. The commission will then issue a temporary registration receipt and license plate, which the buyer must display. This law also allows for an extension of the three-day period to ten days during a public health emergency, such as a pandemic.
