Overview
This bill requires the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and owners of certain reservoirs to implement flood control measures. It directs the DEP to identify flood-prone reservoirs, assess their downstream capacity and water needs, and establish maximum water levels for each reservoir. The bill also authorizes the Office of Emergency Management to lower reservoir levels during severe weather events, subject to consultation with the DEP. Furthermore, it mandates reservoir owners to develop and implement flood action plans, including the construction of flood gates.
