Overview
This bill would change New Jersey law to exempt the sale of used motor vehicles – including passenger cars, motorcycles, motor homes, and off-road vehicles – from the state’s sales and use tax. Currently, these sales are subject to tax, but this legislation would remove that requirement regardless of how the vehicle is sold (e.g., private sale, dealer sale). The exemption applies to both sales made within New Jersey and out-of-state purchases.
