Overview
This bill requires the New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) to create a program to help children with incarcerated non-custodial parents enroll in safety net programs. The program will work with the Department of Corrections, the courts, and county welfare agencies to identify eligible children and ensure their custodial parents or guardians are informed about available benefits and application processes. DHS must also expedite the processing of enrollment applications within 30 days.
