Overview
This bill limits the duration of emergency orders, rules, and regulations issued by the Governor during a state of emergency to a maximum of 14 days. Unless the New Jersey Legislature approves an extension through a concurrent resolution, these orders will expire after 15 days. The bill also prevents the Governor from issuing multiple orders with the same effect for the same emergency. Certain types of orders, such as those rescinding previous orders, complying with federal law, or related to the Governor’s role as Commander-in-Chief, are exempt from this limitation.
