Overview
This bill requires New Jersey law enforcement officers and recruits to receive self-defense training. Recruits must complete a basic course, including both weekly instruction and a 40-hour final course, as part of their initial training. All law enforcement officers must also annually participate in 48 hours of in-service self-defense training. The bill also allocates $250,000 to the Police Training Commission to support the development and implementation of these training programs.
