Overview
This bill requires the New Jersey State Board of Education to create a process for teachers from other states to receive a certificate of eligibility (CE) or a certificate of eligibility with advanced standing (CEAS) if they hold a similar certificate in their home state. To qualify, applicants must have held teaching employment in the past two years, submit letters of recommendation, pass a criminal background check, and meet other specified requirements. The bill also prevents the board from requiring a performance-based assessment as a condition of receiving these certificates.
