Overview
This bill extends the Wounded Warrior Caregivers Relief Act to provide a tax credit to family caregivers of certain veterans in New Jersey. Specifically, it expands the definition of a ‘qualified veteran’ to include any discharged or released veteran from the Armed Forces, and allows caregivers to claim a credit equal to 100% of the veteran’s federal disability compensation or $675, whichever is lower. The credit is available to caregivers who meet certain residency and income requirements and provide care to the veteran for at least six months of the year.
