Overview
This bill changes the rules for obtaining marriage or civil union licenses in New Jersey. Currently, licenses must be issued in the municipality where either party lives, or where the marriage is planned to take place if neither party is a resident of the state. This legislation would allow licenses to be obtained in any municipality within New Jersey, provided the marriage or civil union is intended to occur in the state. The Department of Health will be responsible for creating the necessary regulations to implement this change.
