Overview
This bill creates a new crime in New Jersey: interfering with monitoring devices on school buses. Specifically, it makes it a crime to intentionally damage, disable, or remove cameras or other recording equipment installed on school buses. The severity of the crime depends on the actor’s intent; it’s a fourth-degree crime if the purpose is simply to alter or disable the device, but a third-degree crime if it’s done to defraud or injure someone. The law takes effect immediately.
