Overview
This bill revises the Energy Tax Receipts Property Tax Relief Aid program by requiring all energy taxes to be paid directly to municipalities instead of the State. Starting in Fiscal Year 2022, the State Treasurer would direct energy taxpayers to make these payments directly to local governments. The bill aims to restore the original structure of the program, which originally distributed energy tax revenues to municipalities. It also adjusts the annual distribution of funds to ensure municipalities receive at least the amount they previously received from the program.
