Overview
This bill requires parents to give their consent before their children can participate in health, family life education, or sex education programs in New Jersey public schools. Currently, students could be excused if a parent expressed concerns about the content conflicting with their beliefs. This bill changes that, requiring explicit written consent from a parent or guardian for a student to participate in these programs, and removing the option of being excused based on a statement of conflict.
