Bill overview
This bill aims to improve accessibility for people with disabilities in Nevada. It expands the definition of ‘reasonable efforts’ to accommodate individuals with physical disabilities at public meetings, requiring interpreters and Communication Access Realtime Translation. It also mandates that new public buildings constructed on or after July 1, 2025, include equipment for Communication Access Realtime Translation and includes American Sign Language as a foreign language course of study. Furthermore, the bill requires the Department of Education to conduct a study on the need for a school for deaf or hard-of-hearing pupils.
