Bill overview
Assembly Bill 263 requires Nevada counties with populations of 700,000 or more – currently only Clark County – to notify the Department of Transportation before clearing encampments of homeless individuals located near state-controlled rights-of-way. The Department of Transportation is then authorized to collaborate with homeless outreach teams and participate in the removal of these encampments. This bill aims to improve coordination between local governments and state agencies in addressing homelessness and maintaining public rights-of-way.
