Overview
This bill requires the New Jersey Department of Education to create a new credential for teachers focused on culturally responsive teaching practices. The goal is to equip educators with the knowledge and skills to acknowledge and incorporate students’ cultural backgrounds into their teaching methods. This credential will be available to teachers starting the fall following its enactment, aiming to improve equitable access to education for all students. The Department will work with the Council of Chief State School Officers’ Diverse and Learner-Ready Teachers Initiative to develop this credential.
