Overview
This bill prohibits New Jersey’s state pension and annuity funds from investing in companies that collect or manipulate personal data for immigration status determination or engage in surveillance without proper legal authorization. The State Investment Council and Division of Investment will work with an independent research firm to identify these companies and divest from any investments they hold. The bill also mandates regular reporting to the Governor and the Legislature on divestment progress and requires indemnification for those involved in the process.
