Overview
This bill allows the Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) in New Jersey to contract with vendors for medical and dental services. Currently, state law restricts these agencies to using public employees for these services, which can limit the pool of qualified vendors and increase costs. This bill would change the procurement process to allow DOC and DCF to select vendors based on the most advantageous proposals, considering both price and other factors, with the goal of reducing state healthcare expenses.
