Overview
This bill requires certain employers in New Jersey to provide paid time off and a leave of absence without pay to employees serving in elective office at the state, county, or municipal level. Employees must apply in writing to receive up to 15 days of paid leave per year to fulfill their elected duties. This leave will not interrupt their accrued benefits or employment status, though the employer is not required to pay their portion of benefits during the leave.
