Overview
This bill requires several New Jersey state agencies – including the Departments of Agriculture, Community Affairs, and Human Services, the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority, the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, and the Board of Public Utilities – to review and increase, if authorized, income eligibility standards for certain public assistance, school nutrition, and higher education student financial assistance programs. It directs these agencies to determine if they have the authority to raise standards and, if so, to do so by an amount equal to the increase in the state minimum wage plus a cost-of-living adjustment. The bill also includes an appropriation to fund these changes.
