Overview
This bill directs the New Jersey Department of Human Services’ Division of Developmental Disabilities to study the possibility of creating a state program that would allow individuals with developmental disabilities to use pre-tax dollars to fund special needs trusts. The division will consult with advocacy groups and gather information to provide to families about these trusts and their potential benefits for long-term care planning. Finally, the division must report its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature within nine months of the bill’s enactment.
