Overview
This bill eliminates the requirement that public school employees in New Jersey must reside in the state for a period of three years. It amends existing state law (R.S. 52:14-7) to exempt individuals hired by school districts, charter schools, and renaissance school projects from this residency requirement during that timeframe. The bill also mandates a report from the Department of Education evaluating the impact of this change after three years. Certain exceptions to the residency requirement already exist for temporary positions and specific roles are maintained.
