Overview
This bill requires New Jersey health insurance plans, including those offered by hospitals, medical service corporations, and health maintenance organizations, to cover the cost of hair headpieces for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer. These headpieces are intended to conceal hair loss caused by the treatment. Coverage will require a written recommendation from a treating physician confirming the medical necessity of the headpiece, and will be subject to the same limitations as other prosthetic devices.
