Overview
This bill requires landlords in New Jersey to notify tenants when work on adjacent properties – such as construction or demolition – may cause damage or hazards to their rental property. Landlords must provide tenants with a copy of the notice from the responsible entity within five business days. If the landlord plans to conduct the work themselves, they must also provide direct notice to the tenant beforehand. Failure to provide this notice could result in a penalty of up to $200.
