Overview
This bill allows certain public high school student-athletes who meet specific academic and athletic criteria to substitute a study hall for a required physical education course during their school’s athletic season. Students must be enrolled in at least one advanced placement course or need academic support, participate in a school-sponsored sport, and receive approval from their parent, coach, and school counselor. The student will receive the same graduation credits for participation in the sport as they would for completing the physical education course.
