Overview
This bill would allow judges to impose longer prison sentences for individuals convicted of receiving stolen property if they have a history of similar offenses. Specifically, a person with two or more prior convictions for receiving stolen property could be sentenced to an extended term of imprisonment, provided the most recent offense occurred within 10 years of their release from a previous conviction or within 10 years of the most recent prior conviction. The prosecution must request the extended sentence, and the defendant has the right to a hearing to challenge the grounds for it.
