Overview
The Informed Consent for Vaccination Act updates requirements for administering vaccines to patients in New Jersey. It mandates that healthcare providers provide patients (or their parents/guardians) with vaccine inserts and information about the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) at least 48 hours before vaccination. Patients must also be given the option to opt out and informed of the potential consequences, including risks to public health. Furthermore, healthcare providers cannot deny services or transfer patients solely due to vaccine refusal, with exceptions during public health emergencies.
