Bill overview
This bill modifies regulations for captive insurers in Nevada. It allows captive insurers to directly provide workers’ compensation insurance and authorizes the state’s insurance commissioner to require them to participate in assigned risk pools. The bill also revises requirements for private carriers to provide industrial insurance, potentially allowing captive insurers that meet certain security standards to also offer this type of coverage. Finally, it updates the definition of ‘private carrier’ to include captive insurers.
