Overview
This bill proposes a deduction on New Jersey’s gross income tax for fuel taxes paid on personal vehicle use. It allows taxpayers, regardless of their filing status, to deduct the amount of New Jersey fuel taxes they pay for their own vehicles. The deduction is capped at $1,000 for the 2020 tax year and $2,000 for subsequent years, and certain reimbursements or deductions would disqualify taxpayers from receiving this benefit.
