Overview
This bill directs the Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) to raise the monetary threshold for ‘pay-to-play’ restrictions on state and local government contracts. Specifically, the threshold will be adjusted to match the bidding threshold used for public contracts that utilize qualified purchasing agents. The bill also requires ELEC to report these adjustments annually and applies them to state agencies, counties, municipalities, school boards, and fire districts. Counties and municipalities without qualified purchasing agents will continue to be subject to the existing $17,500 threshold.
