Overview
This bill increases penalties for failing to cooperate with child abuse investigations and for failing to report child abuse or sexual abuse. Currently, violations of child abuse reporting laws could result in a disorderly persons offense. This legislation upgrades these offenses to crimes of the third and fourth degrees, respectively, with potential penalties including longer prison sentences and higher fines.
