Overview
This bill would allow surviving spouses of retired Police and Firemen’s Retirement System (PFRS) members to enroll in and receive state-paid health benefits through the State Health Benefits Program after the retiree’s death. It also permits these surviving spouses to continue receiving their pension benefits after remarriage, provided certain conditions are met. The state would be responsible for any increased employer contributions due to these continued benefits.
