Bill overview
This bill prohibits individuals from holding multiple elective or public offices simultaneously. It amends existing state law (R.S. 19:3-5, N.J.S. 40A:9-4, and P.L. 2007, c. 161) to strengthen restrictions on dual office holding. Specifically, it removes an exception that allowed individuals holding multiple offices as of a certain date to continue holding them until the end of their term. The bill also prohibits elected officials from holding both elective and salaried appointive positions.
